Edits!

I don't know about you guys, but I happen to love the edit process. It is so much fun to me. Of course it helps that I have a great editor who makes the process both painless and fun. She has an amazing sense of humor. I just finished edits on my next book a little over a week ago and am waiting for the second round. I can't wait. It's almost as much fun as the actual writing.

My mom got her very first ever batch of edits. Now she's been really nervous about the editing process because she's never done it before. It didn't matter how much I told her not to worry and how easy it was, she was still really nervous. But then her edits, done by the same editor I have, the amazing Carrie RO, came and she started working on it.

Surprise surprise, they were easy just as I said they'd be. Now I don't have to worry about her chaining me to a chair and forcing me to go through em with her step by step. She can do it herself. So, don't fear edits people. I love them and they really are easy to do.

Okay, I admit you were right. You said edits would be painless, and even fun, but I wouldn't believe.

My history with edits from decades past did not promise me anything remotely close to "joyous".

Back then I felt like the lion with my editor in the role of lion tamer and my keyboard the whip he was lashing my tender flesh with. It was not a pleasant experience.

Thankfully things have changed since decades have passed and what had me dragging my heels much like the child who is facing that scary thing called "THE POTTY CHAIR" when the diaper has been his friend since the day he popped into the world, I found that becoming trained is not so bad after all and yeah, I'm a Big Girl Now! ;)

Love You Kat, and you too Carrie. Thanks for making this process so much fun.

Good post, Kat! And I always love what Lin has to add as well! Edits are not so bad. But I always find things I want to add to the story during edits. So I drag mine out longer.

LOL Kaye. By the time I get to edits I have re-read my stuff so much that I am definitely not looking to change or add material. More often then not I'm sick of the manuscript by that time.:-)

Edits are all about making the story better and getting that much closer to having your book released. Sometimes they can be a challenge, but I love it when I'm finished. lol

Glad your edits were relatively painless.

LOL she's still working on em N.J. Some weird techno thing happened and had to be fixed. It's actually kinda funny. My mom gets hit by the worst luck.:-)
